Writing Marathon March 2022
Please note: For now, no further writing marathon events are planned during the current Writing Center project period through the end of 2023. If you are very interested in the Writing Marathon and would like us to inform you if there is a similar event, please join our list of interested parties for future Writing Marathons on OPAL.
Join the digital writing marathon! (in German only)
Sure, you can write alone. However, just like in sport, writing can also be a team event. You work more productively and progress faster when you are in a motivating environment. This is exactly one of the core ideas of the writing marathon.
You can see what a writing marathon is and how a week of writing marathons can work in this video.
How to participate? The registration
The next writing marathon will take place from 07.03. to 11.03.2022, 9-17 h, (registration via OPAL). If you don't have time but are interested in the writing marathon, then sign up for the list of interest on OPAL.
Why participate? The advantages at a glance
- You benefit from the daily structure: There is a common start and an end to the working day. Afterwards, you can "call it a day" with a clear conscience or continue writing for a while.
- You get the right framework for goal-oriented work: No more "write for the day". Your working hours and breaks are clearly defined during the marathon. An important prerequisite for effective writing.
- You keep at it: Together with other participants you set yourself daily goals and work towards them in a focused way. This increases commitment.
- You can exchange ideas with other participants: Often it is much better to write together than alone. And you benefit from a productive environment with motivated colleagues!
- You set the right focus: It's all about moving forward with your individual project. Write, write and write again - that's the motto here!
- You'll get lots of support: Our writing peer tutors are at your side and will be happy to advise you.
Who can participate? The target group
- All students of TU Dresden can participate in the writing marathon. However, the number of participants is limited. Places will be allocated in the order of registration. So it pays to be quick!
- Please note: The language of the writing marathon is German.
- While the marathon is aimed at all potentially interested parties, the format does not work equally well for everyone. It's a matter of type whether you get a lot of benefit from the event or not.
Checklist: The writing marathon is for you if ...
- you want to be actively involved from Monday to Friday.
- you like to work according to a fixed structure.
- you appreciate and need binding deadlines.
- you take part in regular video conferences to exchange ideas with other participants.
Does all this apply to you? Then register now in OPAL for the Writing Marathon.
The Writing Marathon is not the right format for you? No problem! We have many other offers for you, such as writing consultation, the writing group exchange or our workshops.
