How do I organise my timetable?
The timetable is usually predetermined by the course structure. In the first semesters, there are many compulsory courses that constitute a large part of the timetable. The practical groups and tutorials make up the optional modules. You can see whether there is already a fixed timetable for your course of study on the website of your department or you can find out directly in your introductory course.
For courses without a set timetable, the following should be considered when organising your timetable:
- Refer to your study regulations (on the website of your degree programme at http://tu-dresden.de/sins) to ascertain what needs to be completed
- Check the annotated course catalogue (on the website of your faculty/department) to see which courses are currently being offered
- Put together your timetable for the semester while keeping in mind that it should not exceed 20-26 hours (10-13 double lessons). You will need the rest of the time for independent study or to prepare and review course materials.
- The induction course also offers the opportunity to receive information and advice on organising your timetable
What to do in the case of overlapping?
Courses of study often overlap, especially in joint honour or teacher training programmes. Should this be the case, you should set priorities and make up for the corresponding course(s) in the following semester(s). Check whether you can choose other courses that are better suited to your timetable. Advice is provided by the student advisors and the student representatives.
