What is a gap filling?
Gap filling is a special form of further academic training for teachers who have just joined the profession. It comes into question if you are only missing a few study contents within the framework of subject recognition. Instead of a part-time qualification (BQL), you can complete individual modules from the regular teacher training course in a targeted manner - together with students and with a certificate at the end.
Prerequisite
In order to register for the continuing education program to close the gap at the TUD, you need a letter of recognition from the LaSuB (title of the letter of recognition: "Nachsstudieren fehlender Studieninhalte und -umfänge gemäß § 7 Abs. 5 QualiVO Lehrer"). You will receive this once you have applied for recognition from the LaSuB and the application has been reviewed.
Registration
As soon as you have received your letter of recognition from LaSuB, you can register by email at the TUD Center for Continuing Education. Attach a scan or photo of the letter of recognition and provide your full name and contact details.
E-mail address for registration:
Registration periods:
- For the start of the winter semester: August - September
- For the start of the summer semester: February - March
After your registration, you will receive all further information and steps by e-mail - listed here shortly:
- You will arrange a module selection consultation with the Student Advisory Service. This will determine which modules of the regular teaching degree program you can complete.
- As soon as the modules have been determined and communicated to the TUD Center for Continuing Education, your individual continuing education offer will be created for you.
- If you accept the offer, you will then receive an invoice for the continuing education fee.
- Start your continuing education to close the gap.
Further training fees:
The costs are individual and depend on
- Type, number and scope of the modules
- Duration of the course (number of semesters)
You will receive an invoice for the training fees after accepting the offer. Funding options can be checked if necessary.
It is possible to extend the course by one or more semesters. You will then pay EUR 40.00 per semester in addition to the continuing education fees paid so far. Please contact us shortly before the end of your last semester of further education if you wish to extend your further education.
Procedure
You will complete modules from the regular teacher training course. The courses (including lectures, seminars, exercises) for the modules take place together with the students, as do the examinations.
Content, forms of examination, credit points and further information on the modules and examinations are regulated in the study and examination regulations.
You can find the study regulations for the individual subjects and for the individual Teacher Training - Middle Schools (elementary school, secondary school, grammar school, vocational school) on the following TUD website: https://tu-dresden.de/zlsb/lehramtsstudium/im-studium/studiendokumente
The modules that you complete as part of the adaptation course can be spread over several semesters.
Graduation
After successfully completing your modules, you will receive a TUD certificate from the Center for Continuing Education. The certificate lists all examinations with module number, module name, type of examination, examination date, grade and credit points.
