Certificate program Microelectronics Engineering
Table of contents
With its Microelectronic Engineering certificate program, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at TUD offers scientifically sound and practical continuing education in the field of microelectronics.
The program provides both fundamental and in-depth knowledge of semiconductor technologies, chip design, and system performance. It is aimed at professionals from the semiconductor industry who want to expand their skills in a targeted manner and qualify for current and future requirements in the semiconductor industry, as well as at students.
The modular structure allows for flexible participation options: The entire certificate can be completed, or individual modules can be taken for targeted specialization.

- Experienced professionals with a recognized university entrance qualification and relevant professional experience in the semiconductor sector who want to refresh or deepen their knowledge.
- Graduates with a first professionally qualifying university degree in a STEM degree program.
- Students of STEM degree programs (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, technology) at the TUD Dresden University of Technology who would like to expand their knowledge in a targeted manner in the field of microelectronics.
Structure
The certificate program has a modular structure and offers maximum flexibility:
The module consists of two basic modules and four in-depth modules.
Basic modules:
- Microelectronics technologies
- Electronics assembly and connection technology (Capacity limitation: 20)
Advanced modules:
- Microsystems for microelectronics
- Plasma Technology
- Hybrid integration (Capacity limitation: 20)
- Semiconductor Technology / Process Integration
Places in modules with limited capacity are allocated by lottery. The matriculation and examination regulations of the TUD apply.
The module consists of two basic modules and 13 in-depth modules:
Basic modules:
- Electronic components
- Circuit technology
Advanced modules:
- Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits
(Capacity Limitation: 20) - Innovative Concepts for Active Nanoelectronic Devices
(Capacity Limitation: 20) - Rechnergestützter Schaltkreisentwurf
(Capacity Limitation: 20) - Thermischer Entwurf
- VLSI Processor Design
(Capacity Limitation: 20) - Entwurfsautomatisierung
(Capacity Limitation: 20) - Integrated Circuits for Broadband Optical Communications
(Capacity Limitation: 20) - Elektromechanische und mikroelektromechanische Systeme
(Capacity Limitation: 20)
Places in modules with limited capacity are allocated by lottery. The matriculation and examination regulations of the TUD apply.
The Performance module teaches soft skills that prepare participants for their career entry and is offered each semester in coordination with the Career Service. Essential aspects of relevant presentation techniques, writing scientific and technical texts, AI-supported writing and successful project management techniques are taught.
Participants who complete the certificate program alongside their regular degree program must select a total of three courses for the certificate program (one each as part of modules 1 and 2 and one additional course) from the Career Service program. All other participants can optionally take part in events in the Performance module.
