Climate protection fellowship for future leaders
Dagmar Möbius
Anyone doing academic or practical work in climate protection in a non-European developing or emerging country, can apply for an International Climate Protection Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. CIPSEM is the partner.
The scope of this climate protection fellowship allows for one-year research projects or longer postdoc projects (12-24 months) to be carried out in Germany at host organizations of the applicant's choice. The topics should focus on combating climate change, adaptation strategies, the preservation of ecosystems and biodiversity or the sustainable use of the seas and oceans. Researchers with projects related to sustainability in terms of natural resources, resource-saving consumption or urban development are also welcome to apply.
Every year, 15 international climate protection scholarships are awarded to future managers and up to five to post-doctoral researchers. The scholarships are funded by the International Climate Initiative under the authority of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, which cooperates with its founding ministry, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, as well as with the Federal Foreign Office.
The next study trip in October 2024
As part of this international climate protection fellowship, CIPSEM, together with the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, has been organizing an annual study trip, which is funded by the German government, for over a decade. Participants visit various research institutes throughout Germany, establish contacts with host institutions and strengthen their network. The next two-week trip will take place in October 2024. Those interested in applying for the next round of International Climate Protection Scholarships, which will begin on August 15, 2024, can register here.
