The graduate of the month for March is an expert in Textile and Clothing Technology
Müslüm Kaplan came to Dresden as an Erasmus student to see how research is carried out in his field and to improve his German. He was so fascinated by the research activities and laboratory infrastructure at the Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology (ITM) that he later enrolled on a Master's degree course there. "What impressed me most was the fact that research and teaching were so well integrated and all students were actively working in the labs. I was also impressed by the fact that the laboratory infrastructure offered an extremely wide range of possibilities and that the technology was far ahead of today's standards. I have learned a lot from the German work and research culture, and I continue to benefit from it." His advice to students is not to limit themselves to the subject area they are studying and to make efficient use of the university's educational and research infrastructure.
Today, he works as at Bartin University in Turkey and is a TUD regional ambassador promoting research cooperation with his country.
