Start of the Early Study Program in the 2026/27 Winter Semester
With a total of 65 students, the early-entry program at TU Dresden is getting underway these days. Across nearly 20 degree programs, the early-entry students now have the opportunity to attend regular courses for one semester and get a taste of college life.
The official kickoff took place on October 12. The event began online this semester with a short icebreaker game—this way, even students who were on fall break could get all the information they needed for the start of the semester. The most important questions about the early-entry program were then addressed: “How do I find my lecture hall?”, “Where do I sign up for seminars?”, and “Can I ask questions during the lecture?” At the end of the event, participants had the chance to discuss their chosen courses with one another in small groups and make plans to meet up outside the doors of one or two lectures. This semester, too, many early-entry students took advantage of the opportunity to also participate in the “Studienbrücke” mentoring program.
We wish all early-entry students an exciting and successful semester!
The team at the School Contact Office at TU Dresden would also like to thank all the instructors and faculties that make it possible for early-entry students to participate in their courses.
Early Study at TU Dresden
Early admission offers high school students starting in 9th grade the opportunity to participate in courses offered as part of the regular academic program. The program is aimed at high-achieving, highly motivated young people with a strong interest in specific subjects. As a format for supporting gifted students, early admission is also enshrined in the Saxon Higher Education Act.
The Early Study Program was introduced at TU Dresden in 2005—at that time with 9 participants. Since then, both the number of participants and the range of courses offered have steadily expanded.
The Early Studies program is administered by the School Liaison Office at TU Dresden.
