Transparency Act
On July 13, 2022, the Saxon State Parliament adopted the Act on the Transparency of Information in the Free State of Saxony (Sächsisches Transparenzgesetz – Saxon Transparency Act). The law entered into force on January 1, 2023. It ensures that every individual has the right to access specified information from bodies that are subject to transparency, unless otherwise stipulated.
TUD Dresden University of Technology is subject to transparency pursuant to § 4 para. 3 sentence 1 no. 7 of the Saxon Transparency Act. Technische Universität Dresden’s obligation to transparency exclusively comprises information about the names of third-party funding bodies, the amount of third-party funding and the duration of concluded research projects that have been financed through third-party funds.
In the future, specified information will be provided via the Free State of Saxony’s electronic transparency platform, which is currently being set up. Technische Universität Dresden will provide other information upon request. Requests can be submitted to TUD Dresden University of Technology in writing on paper or electronically, or they can be issued in person to be recorded in writing. Requests do not typically require justification. An exception to this pursuant to § 10 para. 3 of the Saxon Transparency Act is when requests concern third-party interests worthy of protection.
