SprInt opens its Doors for scientific Staff of the TU Dresden
The training program SprInt was created in 2014 to offer technical and administration staff at TUD the opportunity to improve their language and intercultural competences. Participants can choose from a variety of flexible language learning options and numerous exciting intercultural training courses. The participation in events is rewarded with a structured education certificate. To ensure a wide range of offerings, the choice of topics is constantly being expanded and supplemented with new learning formats. At the start of the winter semester 2021/22, another major change in the SprInt program is on the horizon. As part of the excellence measures, TU Dresden's strategic field of action COLLABORATION aims, among other targets, to increase international activities of all university members as well as the visibility of internationality on campus, in research and teaching, in communication and organization. For this reason, SprInt will open up to the university's scientific staff in addition to science support staff as part of its pilot phase starting in fall 2021.
With the opening of the pilot phase, all interested employees of the TUD can register immediately in the SprInt program and test the offers to expand their language and intercultural qualification, space permitting.
In order to be able to offer suitable training formats to all TUD members in the future, the program organizers appreciate lively feedback from the new participants following their test participation. Particularly during the pilot phase, great importance is attached to finding out, by means of the program participants' reports on their experiences, which offerings contributed to the success of their training and which other topics they would like to focus on within the framework of the SprInt program.
The current course plan consists on the one hand of the intercultural workshops. Within the winter semester schedule until the end of the year there are one basic workshop on intercultural competence, two topic-related advanced workshops and a culture-specific workshop. If you are interested in the up to date contents, such as "Origin and course of a culture shock" or "Chinese thinking and learning culture", then quickly secure yourself a place in the corresponding intercultural training.
Within the framework of the language qualification, according to the concept that each person learns at a different speed, three learning formats are available for registration. Those interested in raising their English skills to a higher level can attend an English language course. If a concrete practice project is already set, e.g. the preparation of a presentation, the most benefit can be gained from attending an English one-on-one coaching session. For those who would rather look for a supplementary language tool or learn another foreign language, the language learning app is readily available. While the last two offerings are not limited to semester times, registration for the language courses is still open until Oct. 15, 2021.
