Compliance in education
Table of contents
TU Dresden is an institution of excellent education and research that has an impact on industry and society. TU Dresden is a community of researchers, lecturers and students who kindle enthusiasm and curiosity about knowledge cultivation and transfer as well as lifelong learning.
Within this context, compliance in education focuses on the underlying principles of preparing courses, designing degree programs, planning, holding and managing lectures and examinations, and administering courses. All our teaching staff, students and personnel are obliged to comply with governing regulations – in particular study and examination regulations. They embody the teaching mission statement of TU Dresden and are committed to the outlined quality goals.
Good scientific practice, building respectful interpersonal relationships, and not accepting undue advantages while in office are also a matter of course for our actions in education. These are regulated in the three guidelines on handling harassment, discrimination, and violence, on good scientific practice, and on anti-corruption.

Delineation from quality management
In order to understand the role of Compliance Management, it is necessary to distinguish it from quality management in education.
- Compliance in education comprises all references to and violations of regulations by individuals (such as falsifying data in order to obtain a place at university).
- Quality management in education addresses systemic reports and problems (such as complaints about examination workload).
Systemic complaints and ideas on how to improve teaching, learning or examinations can be submitted using the complaints management system established as part of quality management in education.
