Taking responsibility and shaping our future: TUD presents its sustainability activities at the THE Global Sustainable Development Congress 2025
TUD Dresden University of Technology will once again participate as an exhibitor at the renowned Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC), which will take place in Istanbul from June 16 to 19, 2025. Moreover, Dr. André Lindner, Executive Manager for the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and International Affairs Advisor, has been invited by the organizer Times Higher Education (THE) to actively participate in the conference as a speaker in the panel discussion Forging the Future: Developing the Next Generation of Leaders for a Sustainable World.
TUD's presence at the GSDC 2025 once again underlines its claim and commitment to sustainability. By implementing its Sustainability Strategy, our university is taking responsibility for actively shaping the future and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs). Moreover, the conference is an opportunity for TUD to provide insights into its many ongoing activities in research and transfer as well as the work of the Directorate University Culture, which reflect TUD's claim to be a globally oriented yet regionally anchored University of Excellence for the 21st century.
The GSDC is one of the leading platforms for promoting the SDGs in the higher education sector. The congress will take place for the 4th time and brings together over 5,000 of the world's leading thinkers, innovators and policy makers from different sectors to forge new alliances and create positive action for a more sustainable future.
More than 400 speakers will share their insights on sustainable development in areas such as technology, education, industry, health, urban development, and environment. Featuring over 100 scheduled presentations, panel discussions and networking sessions, the congress offers participants a wide range of opportunities for sharing ideas and networking (GSDC 2025 Agenda). Members of TUD will also present the university's international and sustainable activities.
A special highlight of the event will be the exclusive live presentation of the THE Impact Rankings on June 17, 2025. This globally unique ranking evaluates universities based on their contribution to achieving the United Nations' SDGs. It highlights the measurable contribution of universities in the fight against global crises and recognizes their continuous commitment. TU Dresden has been participating in the THE Impact Ranking since 2022 with SDG 9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure and achieved the outstanding global top ranking last year.
