9th Chemistry Innovation Congress: How can the transformation to a climate-neutral and sustainable chemical industry succeed?
The 9th Chemistry Innovation Congress, organized by the Verband der Chemischen Industrie e.V., Landesverband Nordost (Northeast sector of the Chemical Industry Association – VCI Nordost) in cooperation with TU Dresden’s Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry, will bring partners from research and industry together at TUD on May 31, 2023, to discuss innovative, sustainable solutions and modern technologies for sustainable chemistry.
The transformation of the chemical industry into a sustainable, circular and climate-neutral production sector is essential for facing the great challenges of our day – climate change, the energy transition and resource scarcity. The industry faces immense challenges with respect to the fundamental conversion of energy and raw materials supply, the production processes and the life cycle of recyclable materials to an efficient and resilient circular economy based on renewable energy sources. The key to success lies in innovation, creative ideas, new approaches and modern technologies. The 9th Chemistry Innovation Congress will bring together researchers, doctoral candidates and students from industry as well as universities and non-university research institutions to present and discuss potential solutions, opportunities for the energy transition at the industrial scale, and model projects for structural change in Central Germany. Key focus areas include hydrogen, energy storage and batteries, sustainable catalysis and circular economy as well as future technologies.
Prof. Stefan Kaskel, Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry at TU Dresden and co-organizer of the event, comments, “I am delighted that we could pool expertise from science and industry at this congress and that we are working together with even greater intensity on potential approaches to the transformation of the chemical industry.”
The spectrum of scientific proficiencies is already exceedingly strong and broadly diversified thanks to the participation of numerous DRESDEN-concept partners such as Fraunhofer, Leibniz and Helmholtz. Supplemented by many successful industry companies – including Wacker Chemie AG, Sunfire GmbH, and BASF – the event is certain to feature a broad range of input, know-how and experiences.
