Building materials of the future: Prof. Christina Scheffler delivers inaugural lecture
Professor Christina Scheffler
On April 16, 2026, TUD Dresden University of Technology invites the university community to an inaugural lecture. Prof. Christina Scheffler, who has held the Chair of Polymers in Civil Engineering since 2024, will give her inaugural lecture from 4:40 pm to 6:10 pm in the Fritz-Foerster-Bau (FOE/244), Mommsenstraße 6, 01069 Dresden, on the topic “Beyond Concrete: Fibers and Polymers for Tomorrow’s Buildings“. The focus will be on innovative materials and sustainable building concepts that open up new perspectives for the construction of the future.
In her lecture, Prof. Scheffler will provide insights into the development of fiber-reinforced composites aimed at efficient material use, high mechanical capabilities, and a longer service life. She will also shed light on how recycling concepts can be established in the construction industry.
The lecture and the ensuing discussion will be held in English.
About the university-wide inaugural lecture
The university-wide inaugural lectures introduce newly appointed professors who are of particular strategic importance to TU Dresden’s research profile. Internationally recognized appointments in forward-looking research fields strengthen the university’s development and networking within TU Dresden as well as with partners in the DRESDEN-concept research alliance.
After the lecture, stay for a relaxed get-together — an excellent opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and engage with researchers and fellow attendees.
