TU Dresden’s Rector Elected as President of the Heat Transfer Society (UK)
On 23 March 2018, Prof. Hans Müller-Steinhagen, Rector of TU Dresden, will ‘take over’ the position of President of the Heat Transfer Society (HTS) for the years 2018 to 2019. The society strives to foster all aspects of heat transfer as well as the associated technical developments. It creates a platform for researchers, engineers and designers who are active in this field, in order to enable the expert dialogue conducive to the common research topic.
HTS was founded in 1964. Every year, the society’s committee convenes to deliberate, which renowned expert, based on their exceptional contributions to the subject of heat transfer, is to be offered the presidency. The commission has chosen Prof. Hans Müller-Steinhagen who throughout his academic career has been strongly committed to this research area. Prior to his tenure as Rector of Technische Universität Dresden, he simultaneously served as Director of the Institute of Thermodynamics and Thermal Engineering at Stuttgart University and as the Director of the Institute of Engineering Thermodynamics at the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt – DLR).
Furthermore, Prof. Müller-Steinhagen spent 17 years researching and teaching in numerous English-speaking countries with stints in Guildford (England), Auckland (New Zealand and Vancouver (Canada). His strong and extensive, international networking was a further contributing factor to award Prof. Müller-Steinhagen the HTS presidency.
