Colorful, exciting, up close: The new educational offer of the Dresden Seniors' Academy
The DSA programme also included a "Brücke" Walk, during which keen senior walkers in Moritzburg embarked on a commemorative tour honouring the "Brücke" artists, under the expert guidance of Christian Kunath, an expert on Saxon history.
Enrolment for summer semester starts on March 23
"AI is not an oracle, but a tool" - lectures, seminars and workshops on digital literacy will be a focal point of the Dresden Senior Academy's educational program in the 2026 summer semester. Over 250 events on topics including science, technology, society, medicine, history and art will once again be on offer in the coming semester.
More than 500 students choose the extensive program each semester, appreciating the variety and quality of the lectures, excursions, educational trips and opportunities to get creative themselves. Events dealing with digital competence and artificial intelligence are very popular. In the summer semester, the topics include "Smart City Dresden - Digitalization for a liveable city" and "Using health digitally". Orientation instead of getting lost - hiking apps will be presented and tried out in practice.
Current topics (Is the EU a model for success?) and scientific (New radiopharmaceuticals in the fight against cancer) are just as much a part of the educational program as historical (History of bridges in Dresden) and practical (Insured, but properly! What you need). On-site education is a permanent feature of guided tours and excursions at the Dresden Senior Citizens' Academy. In the summer months, for example, listeners visit the Hosterwitz church Maria am Wasser - with a hands-on organ, the Wegscheider organ building workshop or the Hainsberg paper factory. "Gorbitz - Life in the Landscape" or "Prohlis - Along the Geberbach through the ages" show the two large Dresden districts from special perspectives. In terms of music, the Senior Citizens' Academy is on the road, for example, at the organ matinee in the Heilig-Geist-Kirche Blasewitz and with our partner Eberhardt TRAVEL in Leitmeritz and Melnik as well as to the Bregenz Festival.
With its wide range of educational activities, the Senior Citizens' Academy offers citizens of Dresden and the surrounding area the opportunity to keep mentally fit. It is also a meeting place and a place for creative self-activity in interest groups and discussion groups.
Interested parties are cordially invited. Registration opens on March 23, 2026 online and at the Dresden Seniors' Academy office (Lingnerplatz 1, 01069 Dresden) and is possible at any time.
