Thomas Stierle worked on several projects with TU Dresden while he was still at school. He later chose to study here, partly because of the excellent reputation of electrical engineering at TUD, but also because of his own curiosity. He wanted to understand why so much went wrong and why there was so much smoke when working on electronics. Later, he applied his curiosity and thirst for knowledge to various automotive sectors over the course of his career. Today, he heads the E-Mobility division at Schaeffler AG.

His advice for today's first-year students: “Always take the opportunity to apply what you have learned and stay curious. This also includes trying out new things, questioning the status quo, and seeking out opportunities rather than dwelling on risks.”
