DHSZ welcomes fifth member university
FH Dresden joins the Dresden University Sports Center
With the publication of the regulations for the management and operation of the Dresden University Sports Center (DHSZ) on June 18, 2020, the former University Sports Center (USZ) of the TU Dresden opened under a new name and as a joint central facility of the TU and HTW Dresden for all others in Dresden resident universities. “With the establishment of the Dresden University Sports Center, the way was paved for a project in university sports that was unique in Germany - the merger and cooperation of organized university sports at the Dresden location within a joint facility,” said the Chancellor of the Technical University of Dresden, Dr. Andreas Handschuh.
Building on this change in name and content, the Dresden University of Applied Sciences (FHD) joined the DHSZ on October 1, 2021 in order to be able to offer its students and employees an attractive university sport. Bianca Reich, Chancellor of the FHD, and TUD Chancellor Dr. Andreas Handschuh signed the fifth accession of an academic educational institution to the Dresden University Sports Center with their signatures. With this new cooperation, the DHSZ now represents and organizes university sports for over 37,000 students in Dresden.
