New materials and technologies for sustainable products and processes
Taking “New materials and technologies for sustainable
products and processes” as its motto, the International ECEMP
Colloquium is set to take place in Dresden on the 25th and 26th
of October 2012. Its main areas of focus will be processes and
sustainability, fresh approaches to energy and new materials
and test methods. Around 200 scientists and engineers from the
worlds of academia and industry will be presenting their latest
findings in the fields of materials for alternative energy
concepts, biomimetic multi-material systems and novel
nano-scale processes and the application thereof. A poster
exhibition will provide an insight into the work carried out by
stipendiaries from the ECEMP International Graduate
School.
ECEMP – From atom to complex component
ECEMP – the European Centre for Emerging Materials and
Processes Dresden – is a Saxon Cluster of Excellence. Its
scientists develop multi-component materials and related
technologies for applications in the future-oriented fields of
energy technology, environmental technology and lightweight
engineering. The materials used belong to three material
classes: metallic (steel, aluminium, magnesium, titanium),
nonmetallic-organic (polymers, natural substances) and
nonmetallic-inorganic materials (ceramics, glass). ECEMP
comprises 14 subprojects involving the participation of 40
chairs from TU Dresden, HTW Dresden and TU Bergakademie
Freiberg, and draws significant benefit from interdisciplinary
links between its participants. ECEMP is financed by funds from
the European Union (ERDF) and the Free State of Saxony.
