New cooperation with Helpline Saxony: Telephone support for international university members in crisis situations
The TUD Dresden University of Technology has signed a cooperation agreement with Helpline Sachsen to provide better support for international students and staff in crisis or emergency situations. The aim of the cooperation is to provide an additional, low-threshold offer of help - fast, confidential and multilingual.
Helpline Sachsen is a volunteer-run telephone hotline for people throughout Saxony who find themselves in difficult life situations. It offers telephone support in acute situations as well as for everyday challenges, such as contacting authorities, medical facilities or advice centers.
There is a particular focus on overcoming language barriers: All helpline volunteers speak German as well as at least one other language - including Arabic, English, Russian, Ukrainian, Dari/Farsi and, in future, Spanish. In an emergency, the helpline can also be used for language mediation if a direct emergency call to the police (110) or emergency services (112) is not possible.
With this cooperation, TU Dresden is expanding its support network in a targeted manner for international members of the university and sending a clear signal for greater accessibility, safety and participation.
