Not afraid of new things: Hendrik Strobelt is the alumnus of the month for May
Dr. Hendrik Strobelt is the Alumnus of the Month for May 2026
How does artificial intelligence make decisions? This is one of the questions that Dr. Hendrik Strobelt is exploring. The former computer science student at TUD Dresden University of Technology is the Alumnus of the Month for May. Today, he lives and works in America and is currently a Senior Research Scientist at IBM in Cambridge, researching artificial intelligence. One goal, for example, is to break down tasks for large AI models into smaller programs that can be run on a laptop.
Looking back on his computer science studies at TUD, Hendrik Strobelt can hardly use the subject matter taught today, as things are changing rapidly in computer science. What has remained, however, are important fundamental principles: "No fear of new things, abstraction as a core competence for computer science and a holistic view of problems," he says.
