TU Dresden is part of the new European Partnership EIT Culture and Creativity
The Governing Board of the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) has selected the »Innovation by Creative Economy (ICE)« consortium to establish the new Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) in the cultural and creative sectors. The European Culture & Creativity Partnership aims to support students and start-ups to generate innovative products and processes in the creative industries and for the cultural heritage sector. The consortium with its 50 partners from 20 nations and eleven cultural and creative industries is coordinated by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.
An essential part of the ICE consortium is the Association for Research and Innovation in the Cultural and Creative Industries of Germany (InnoCreateGermany), which brings together the German partners in the sector. TU Dresden is a founding member of the association, underscoring its leading position in Germany's innovation research landscape. TU Dresden will work with partners in Dresden and the region to make a very active contribution to initiating and developing innovation projects with the city's outstanding cultural and creative sectors.
"We are very pleased that TU Dresden is part of this European consortium right from the start. For us, this opens up a multitude of opportunities to strengthen our partnerships in the border triangle and this particular city in interaction with leading innovation clusters in Europe. In addition to its traditionally strong cultural community, Dresden has a very dynamically growing start-up landscape, which is largely supported by research activities at our university. Among other things, harnessing this potential for a sustainable transformation of our society is one of the greatest challenges for the Dresden region. As an active partner of the innovation community EIT Culture & Creativity, we can now meet this challenge in a strengthened way," explains Jens Krzywinski, Professor for Technical Design at TU Dresden.
A budget of EUR 6 million will be granted for the start-up phase of the EIT Culture & Creativity. Once the partnership reaches full capacity, the annual grant will be increased and will reach about EUR 70 million per year under the current Horizon Europe program.
