PD Endowed Chair for resource-efficient building design at TU Dresden
Sustainable construction with low resource consumption can make a significant contribution to achieving the goals of the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement. This is why the PD is promoting resource-efficient building design with an endowed chair. The endowed chair has been established for a period of six years and is based at the TUD's Institute of Concrete Structures. The position has been held by Prof. Dr Yvonne Ciupack since 1 January 2024."
"As a public consultancy firm, we already take sustainability criteria into account when planning and implementing public construction projects. With the endowed chair at the TUD Dresden University of Technology, we want to intensify the transfer and development of knowledge on climate-friendly public construction and support the training of qualified young professionals interested in this field. We also offer teachers and students the opportunity to familiarise themselves with PD consulting practice and to engage in a direct exchange with us," explains Stéphane Beemelmans, Managing Director of PD.
Prof. Dr Yvonne Ciupack emphasises: "With the research at the endowed chair for resource-efficient building construction, I would like to make a significant contribution to the development of NetZero 2050-compliant and resource-efficient solutions that can be established in the construction industry. I would like to contribute to making future construction projects more resource-efficient and thus actively participate in sustainable development. It is also important to me to further strengthen the concept of sustainability in the teaching of the Civil Engineering degree programme at TU Dresden."
Prof Dr Jürgen Stamm, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at TUD, emphasises the importance of resource-efficient building construction: "Resource-efficient building construction marks a pioneering development in the construction industry, as it combines ecological sustainability and economic efficiency. By using sustainable building materials and circular value chains, it reduces the consumption of natural resources and lowers energy costs, also taking into account climate impact costs. In addition, resource-efficient buildings improve the quality of life of residents by providing a healthier and more comfortable living space."
As a public consultancy firm, PD is particularly keen to strengthen the exchange of knowledge between administration, research and teaching. PD - Berater der öffentlichen Hand GmbH is an in-house consulting company for the public sector and offers comprehensive project-related consulting and management services for the federal government, federal states, municipalities and other public clients on all issues relating to modern administration and investment projects. PD primarily advises on strategic, organisational and investment projects, provides support in the management of major projects and the management of procurement procedures. PD is 100 per cent owned by public shareholders.
