Citizens' Conference and Open Air Show on 28 March
After one comes two – another open air concert for an
open-minded Dresden is coming on 28 March 2015 at the
Theaterplatz. The event is again directed by the association
Place to be! e.V. and the Initiative weltoffenes Dresden
(Initiative for an open-minded Dresden).
Furthermore, a "Dresden Citizens' Conference" is planned,
which will take place before the concert in the International
Congress Center Dresden. With podium discussions, discussion
groups and a "market of possibilities", as many aspects as
possible of current discussions regarding concepts of democracy
and integrating asylum seekers will be sounded out.
Appropriately, the conference title is "Democracy in Everyday
Life Together". Professor Gerhard Ehninger from the TU Dresden
Faculty of Medicine is significantly involved in the
preparations.
In addition to this, TUD professors Wolfgang Donsbach, Hans
Vorländer and Werner Patzelt are also taking part in podium
discussions.
The TUD university management supports the concerns of the
citizens' conference and open air concert, and is calling on
all students and staff to participate:
“We are grateful and proud that we at TU Dresden learn, teach,
work and live together with around 5,000 international
scientists and students to achieve top performances in research
and teaching together. Science is international! TU Dresden
thrives on interaction between foreign and German students and
scientists, who are all a firm part of our university,
regardless of religion and background. It was our aim, and we
have succeeded, to make foreign staff and students enthusiastic
about TU Dresden. We should all do everything in our power to
paint a picture of Dresden as an open-minded city.“
The citizens' conference will take place on 28 March 2015, from
2pm - 7pm in the International Congress Center Dresden and the
open air concert from 8pm at the Theaterplatz.
