Vice-Rector for Structure and Development appointed
The Senate of TU Dresden has appointed Professor Antonio M. Hurtado Vice-Rector for Structure and Development in today’s meeting (8 March 2017). As of April 2017, he will be the successor of Professor Michael Ruck who steps down to, once again, dedicate himself to tasks in research and teaching.
In August 2007, Antonio M. Hurtado (born 1959) was appointed Professor of Hydrogen and Nuclear Energy at TU Dresden’s Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering. Since January 2009, he has been Director of the Institute of Power Engineering.
Following his studies of Mechanical and Process Engineering at the University of Duisburg-Essen, from which he graduated as Dipl. Engineer, Hurtado obtained his doctorate and Postdoctoral Lecturing Qualification (Habilitation) at RWTH Aachen. Up until his appointment to TU Dresden, he had been working in different companies and leading positions.
Antonio M. Hurtado is a Spanish national and married father of three adult children. He is a football enthusiast and was Chairman of the board of 1. FC Union Berlin from April 2004 until March 2012.
