Commemorative Event of Unated Nations Day 2022 - Registration now open

Prof. Edeltraud Guenther and Lokale Agenda für Dresden cordially invite you to the United Nations Day Dresden 2022 Commemorative Event and the Award Ceremony of the Lokale Agenda Contest – Theme: "Culture of Peace" on Wednesday, 3 November 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in the Plenary Hall of the Dresden City Hall, Rathausplatz 1, 01067 Dresden and via live stream.
This year, we are bringing Dr. Angela Kane, a former UN High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, to our cooperation event in Dresden. We want to discuss with her how we can establish peace-building structures in the long term and what can be done locally to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).
The subsequent Award Ceremony of the 23rd Lokale Agenda Contest honors initiatives for their commitment to sustainable development in Dresden.
Keynote: Dr. Angela Kane has had a long and distinguished career (more than 35 years) at the United Nations, working in the field and New York. Among other positions, she was Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for Disarmament Affairs of the United Nations (UN) and Member (2016-2019) and Chair (2019-2022) of the Council of the United Nations University (UNU). She is currently a Sam Nunn Distinguished Fellow at the Nuclear Threat Initiative in Washington DC.
