Combining competitive sport and studies: TU Dresden awarded eight sports scholarships
In the 2023/24 academic year, eight sports scholarships were once again awarded to TU Dresden students who actively participate in competitive sports alongside their studies. The scholarships are intended to make it easier to combine competitive sport and studies.
The group welcomes back several repeat scholarship holders: In addition to Selina Stamer (karate), these include Sina Stöckmann (volleyball), Jonas Wagner (high jump), Mara Schöley (dance), Simon Schubert (rowing) and Tom Liebscher-Lucz (canoe sprint).
Katja Fuhrmann (rowing) and Robin Bendig (short track speed skating) have received the scholarship for the first time.

About the athletics scholarship
The TUD athletics scholarship is made up of customizable building blocks to suit the needs of each scholarship holder individually. It includes €300 per month in financial support as well as additional aid of up to €2,400 per year that can be arranged in line with the individual's requirements, as explained in the application (using the appropriate form), and used for competition fees, food or athletic equipment. The scholarship is awarded for one year, and extension is possible.
Students who are enrolled at TU Dresden and take part in competitive athletics are eligible to apply. Prerequisites for application are grades of “good” or better that clearly indicate academic success combined with outstanding athletic achievements at the state level (Landeskader) or equivalent.
