Commitment to Internationality in Academia
As a university, TU Dresden espouses cosmopolitanism, tolerance, humanity and respect – both on campus and in the public sphere. These values form the basis for social cohesion and for excellence in research and teaching. “Science is international” – this is the credo that TU Dresden’s Rector Prof. Hans Müller-Steinhagen will advocate on Sunday, 21st October during the demonstration for a Dresden without racism, for a Dresden standing united in solidarity.
At 2:30 pm TU Dresden’s Rector will give a short address in front of the city hall and will be joined by Saxony’s Minister President, Michael Kretschmer; the Saxon State Minister for Higher Education, Research and the Arts, Dr. Eva-Maria Stange; the Saxon State Minister for Economic Affairs, Martin Dulig; and Dresden’s Mayor, Dirk Hilbert.
About 5,000 international scientists and students from over 125 countries are currently studying, teaching, working and residing at TU Dresden. Excellence in teaching and research would be inconceivable without them.
The meeting point for the demonstration is at the Dresden main station (Hauptbahnhof) at 1:30 pm. At approx. 2 pm, the participants will walk towards the city hall, where the individual speakers will then read their statements at around 2:30 pm.
