Conference in Dresden Celebrates 100th Anniversary of the Association of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics
Between May 30 and June 2, 2023, TU Dresden hosted the largest conference for applied mathematics and mechanics in Germany – the annual meeting of the Association of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (GAMM). The conference’s varied program of presentations painted a picture of current developments in Computational Mechanics, Solid Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Analysis, Numerical Mathematics and Scientific Computing. An interdisciplinary network of over 1,000 researchers met here to attend expert lectures, take part in discussions, and develop new ideas.
This year was particularly special as GAMM is celebrating its 100th anniversary. On this occasion, the conference featured numerous scientific talks illuminating historical, current and future aspects of applied mathematics and mechanics, as well as accompanying events for the public. A scientific art exhibition was open in TU Dresden’s Auditorium Center throughout, and to conclude the conference, Harald Lesch held an online lecture in the Auditorium Center’s Audimax titled “What does the universe have to do with me?” (Was hat das Universum mit mir zu tun?) on Friday evening at 8:00 pm. He was also joined by YouTuber Johann Beurisch (known as “DorFuchs”).
