TUD Professor Michael Kaliske introduced as a new acatech member in Berlin

At its General Assembly in Berlin on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, acatech — the German Academy of Science and Engineering — welcomed its 26 new members, who introduced themselves and presented their research areas. Among them was Prof. Michael Kaliske, Director of the Institute of Structural Analysis at the TUD Dresden University of Technology, who became a member in November 2025. Michael Kaliske uses computer simulations to investigate how materials and structures behave — from glass and tires to concrete slabs. At the Institute of Structural Analysis at TU Dresden, he develops models and digital twins — virtual representations of real-world systems — to support this research.
At the acatech general assembly, five new members of the Executive Board were also elected. Among them is Prof. Claudia Felser, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids in Dresden. The quantum chemist is also Honorary Professor of Chemistry of Inorganic Materials at the TUD and a founding member of the ctd.qmat Cluster of Excellence.
