Transport scientists at the TU Dresden are interested in price sensitivity, purchase motivation and the effectiveness of political incentive structures

The "Flexible Transport Systems and Complex Urban Dynamics" (FTSCUD) research group at the "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport Sciences at the TU Dresden is leading the nationwide 9-euro ticket and the debate on possible subsidy and funding measures for the sale of electric vehicles in Germany conducted a total of three surveys. All run in cooperation with the University of Göttingen.

The first survey started on June 1^st, 2022 and has already produced results that have received a lot of media attention nationwide. It deals with the "price sensitivity of the 9-euro ticket". With this survey, the unique opportunity should be used to participate in the largest German real experiment in nationwide public transport and to assess the effects of the offer on rural and urban areas. In order to avoid overlaps with other surveys, the focus was on willingness to pay and price perception. The results should help to evaluate changes in public transport compared to the status quo and show possible effects of changed price/tariff structures. To the survey ... [in German}

The second survey is about the "motivation to buy the 9-euro ticket". Here, the reasons for a ticket purchase and the possibilities of future pricing are examined. This survey takes into account the unique opportunity to get comprehensive and new insights into the mobility behavior and perception of public transport in connection with the 9-euro ticket. The survey focused on buying motives. The results should help to place future ticket offers ideally in terms of price. To the survey ... [in German]

The third survey deals with the "political incentive structures for the sale of electric vehicles". The aim of this survey is to collect data to examine the effectiveness of possible subsidy and promotion measures with regard to the sales potential of electric cars in Germany. The population's acceptance of possible political measures to expand electrification in road traffic is to be surveyed and assessed. Buyers of purely electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles are currently being subsidized with the "environmental bonus" of up to 9,000 euros. This should change at the beginning of next year. From 2023, the state’s share of the subsidy will drop from EUR 6,000 to a maximum of EUR 4,500 and the premium for hybrid vehicles will no longer apply.
