Renowned Alexander-von-Humboldt-Fellow Prof. Dr. Katy Boerner visits TU Dresden
Scientometrics, Information Visualisation and Cyberinfrastructure
In the first week of July, TU Dresden’s Faculty of Education and the Media Centre as well as the Media Faculty of Hochschule Mittweida will host Prof. Boerner, Alexander-von-Humboldt-Fellow (AvH) and internationally recognised authority on the development of cyberinfrastructures.
Prof. Boerner is the director of the Cyberinfrastructure for Network Science Center and Distinguished Professor of Engineering & Information Science at the Indiana University Bloomington. She was awarded the AvH Fellowship for her substantial contributions to the development of data analysis and visualisation techniques, which led to improved access to information, not only for data scientists, but for researchers in a wide array of academic disciplines.
During her stay in Germany, she will collaborate at the Media Centres of TU Dresden and HS Mittweida as well as the Faculties of Media (HS Mittweida) and Education (TU Dresden). Her intention is to develop highly innovative data science approaches using cyberinfrastructures for large-scale scientific collaboration and computation. Analysing and visualising online activities helps to advance the structure and evolution of scientific disciplines. During her visit at the beginning of July, she will speak at the doctoral colloquium “Education and Technology” and attend several other public events. Prof. Boerner will be visiting regularly over the upcoming two years.
