Cooperation project for the development of a Gender Equality Plan at the Tbilisi State University (TSU)

Horizon Europe calls for the mandatory implementation of Gender Equality Plans (GEPs) as a mandatory criterion for the implementation of research projects. Gender equality policies should thus be more effective instruments at national and European level. In line with the TU Dresden's internationalization strategy, participation in UI-Gleich is intended to expand the institutional transfer of knowledge and to facilitate participation and involvement in the scientific community for partner universities. Georgia has been associated with Horizon Europe since 2021 and can participate in the calls for proposals. In this cooperation, TSU is supported in developing the objectives in its strategy paper on the GEP within the university in accordance with the best European standards, underpinning them with sub-objectives and measures and developing instruments for their implementation. The cooperation project is coordinated by the central Equal Opportunities Officer at TU Dresden. Methodologically, the cooperation project is based on the experiences from the HORIZON EUROPE project TARGET (“Taking A Reflexive approach to Gender Equality for institutional Transformation”) and is accompanied in its operationalization by the expertise at the Institute for Advanced Studies Vienna, Dr. Angela Wroblewski. As part of this collaboration, sharing experiences and best practices will help TSU further develop its Gender Equality Plan (GEP). The initial goal is to gather better data on the current state of gender relations at TSU, in order to then identify context-specific and evidence-based areas for action in a total of five thematic areas for the GEP. Subsequently, specific (sub)goals and measures will be defined, considering existing structures.
