Behind TUD's capabilities is a clear structure that extends from the University Executive Board and the Central University Administration to the five departments with their faculties and the Central Units. Committees and commissions jointly shape the strategic direction and ensure transparent decision-making processes. This creates a strong foundation for excellent research, teaching and innovation.

Central University Administration

As a service facility, our central administration supports all members of the TUD in their day-to-day work. From finances and personnel matters to research and transfer services, all support services can be found here.

Schools and Faculties

The academic foundation of the Technische Universität Dresden is formed by our five departments and the faculties located there. The collaborative networking of this structure forms the foundation for strong transferable research and teaching.

Central units

Outstanding research units at the TUD deal with central social issues and innovative questions. What counts are results that are relevant to us all and thus create knowledge for life. Institutions such as the Dresden University Sports Center (DHSZ) or the Custody enrich everyday university life with their services and play a central role at the TUD.

The TUD

The TUD unites all academic research and education areas under one roof. With 5 departments and 17 faculties, we offer a wide range of subjects from the natural sciences and engineering to the humanities and social sciences.

Our Central Units promote interdisciplinary research and teaching and offer employees services in many areas of their everyday work. They take on numerous further education, service and supply tasks. Central University Administration also supports all members of our university as a service unit and thus plays an essential role in everyday university life.

In order to do justice to the diversity of TU Dresden and its members, numerous interest groups, committees and representatives are involved in all important matters relating to the university. They promote dialog, transparency and participation and thus strengthen the participation and co-determination of all stakeholders.

Rectorate

The Rectorate is made up of the Rector, the Chancellor and four Vice Rectors. It manages the university and develops its overall strategy.

Senate

The Senate is the central self-governing body of the TUD. It is responsible for academic matters in the areas of teaching, studies, continuing education and research. Representatives of all status groups jointly shape the strategic development of the university.

University Council

The University Council supports the TUD as an independent advisory and supervisory body. It is involved in strategy development as well as in the structural and development planning of the university. Through its members outside the TUD, it promotes dialog between the university, society and business and thus contributes to the further development of the TUD.
