System Accreditation
After the implementation of a quality management system for teaching and learning the rectorate decided at the end of 2012 to initiate the system accreditation procedure. Subject matter of the system accreditation is the internal quality assurance in the field of teaching and learning. The structures and procedures that are relevant for teaching and learning are assessed in consideration of the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ESG), the guidelines of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK) and the criteria of the Accreditation Council being applied. The aim is to achieve the quality objectives and to ensure a high quality of the study programmes.
With the successful completion of the system accreditation process, which TU Dresden underwent from 2012 to 2015, the university was certified that its quality assurance system in teaching and learning is suitable to ensure the achievement of qualification goals and the quality standards of its study programs. Study programs that are established according to the specifications of the accredited system or have already been the subject of internal quality assurance according to the specifications of the accredited system are thus accredited.
Since the beginning of 2019, intensive preparations have been made for the re-accreditation of the quality management system in order to continue to be responsible for the quality assurance and development of the study programs independently of external agencies after 2021.
In two on-site visits on March 12 and 13 as well as from October 4 to 6, 2020, five external experts conducted interviews with the rectorate, lecturers, study program coordinators, students, employees of the administration, external experts in the internal accreditation procedures as well as members of the Working Group Q and the Commission QSL and received an overall very positive impression of the quality management system for studying and teaching at TU Dresden. After completion, the expert opinion was first evaluated and the application for system accreditation was submitted to the Accreditation Council.
On March 30, 2023, the Accreditation Council decided to extend the system accreditation without conditions until September 30, 2029.
