Quality Management System for Research, Knowledge Transfer, and Promotion of Young Researchers
Quality Management for Research has established the Quality Management System for Research, Knowledge Transfer, and the Promotion of Young Researchers according to the requirements of the Act on the Autonomy of Higher Education Institutions in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG) and the evaluation regulations of TU Dresden. The fundamental principles for this quality management system can be found here.
To ensure the comparability of evaluations at TU Dresden, these principles also incorporate a recommendation of evaluation criteria that can be applied throughout the university. The work group Quality Management for Research led by the Vice-Rector for Research, with the participation of representatives appointed by the Schools and with representatives appointed by young researchers, expanded the evaluation criteria in 2016. With the conclusion of the pilot evaluations in 2019, an internal revision of these recommendations and the evaluation process is planned for mid-2019.
The first pilot evaluation took place 2016-17 in the social sciences and humanities when the subject of Business and Economics at TU Dresden was evaluated. Two further pilot evaluations are currently in progress (2018-19): The pilot evaluation in the discipline of Engineering is at the “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, and the pilot evaluation in the Science is at the Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry. From 2019 onwards, regular evaluations are planned which will begin with the evaluation of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science in 2019-20.
To enhance current research information standards, Quality Management for Research coordinated the pilot role of TU Dresden in the Core Dataset on Research Activities project of the German Council of the Science and Humanities. The recommendation (in German only) of this core dataset was determined by the German Council of Science and Humanities in 2016.
