TU Dresden successful in the "Shaping Diversity" audit
TU Dresden's audit process was successfully completed with the final workshop for the "Shaping Diversity" audit on 7 February 2024. TU Dresden will therefore be certified by the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft on 6 March 2024 in Berlin.
The objectives of the audit process were to raise awareness of diversity across the board at TU Dresden and thus to establish diversity more strongly as a cross-sectional task and to promote sustainable change processes with regard to equal participation. To this end, a total of five workshops were held at TUD over the course of a two-year participation process. In addition, needs were identified and measures derived in topic-specific working groups.
More than 100 employees from all status groups and students at TU Dresden were involved in the audit process. They organised this participatory process with the support of the Diversity Management Steering Committee and the Vice-Rectorate for University Culture.
As part of the final workshop, all stakeholders involved in the audit process came together again and discussed the 33 measures developed in the audit process and their respective implementation status with the auditor Prof Christian Ganseuer. Sophie Zimdars, coordinator of the "Shaping Diversity" audit, is delighted with the participation in the process: "I am delighted that so many committed people have worked on ideas for a more diversity-sensitive TU Dresden over the two-year process. In the final workshop, we were able to come together once again, recognise the implementation status, reflect on the audit process, discuss the next strategic steps and bring the audit process to a festive close." An event is planned for spring 2025 to keep an eye on the measures initiated, their further development and implementation.
The "Shaping Diversity" audit initiated a process that aims to further embed diversity across the breadth of university structures. The audit has helped to create a space for the diversity of perspectives and to attract new stakeholders and involve them in the organisational processes. This has created greater awareness and sensitisation for the topic of diversity.
