Diversity TU go – Cultural Minds: Psychological Foundations for Inter-Cultural Understanding between the East and West (keynote lecture)
As part of the Diversity Days, which have the theme “Shaped by Roots, Spurred by Diversity", this talk introduces psychological theories and empirical findings on cultural differences between Eastern and Western societies.
Using current research and examples, it demonstrates how our cultural background influences the way we perceive ourselves, process information and interact in academic and professional settings.
- How do culturally shaped communication styles influence teamwork, teaching and supervision?
- What does intercultural sensitivity look like in academic settings?
- Which practices can foster a genuinely inclusive, respectful and globally minded campus culture?
Participants are invited to reflect on their own cultural perspectives and explore strategies for fostering an academic community where diverse viewpoints are recognised as strengths and origin is not a barrier, but a catalyst for shared learning and collaboration.
