Women in Science - Documentary film followed by a panel discussion
Who actually does science? And why do we primarily think of a man when we imagine "a scientist"? In the documentary PICTURE A SCIENTIST, a biologist, a chemist and a geologist take on these questions and lead the audience on a journey through the experiences of their academic careers - as women of science. In their careers, they are exposed to discrimination from the very beginning. Women scientists have to fight a constant battle for recognition, respect and equality.
The documentary tells the story of strength and solidarity, of courageous women scientists who stand up to injustice and start a global discourse of change and equality. In futuristic laboratories and spectacular fieldwork settings, the film makes clear the invaluable work of women researchers and how science can be changed for the better through systematic and structural transformation - for a world full of women biologists, astronauts, chemists and mathematicians ... . These individual testimonies can then be presented during the panel discussion – anonymously and contingent upon personal consent – so as to broaden the range of experiences represented on the panel with further individual accounts. You can anonymously submit your testimonial using this questionnaire. Additionally, you can send an account of your experiences to the following email address: diskriminierung-genow@web.de.
The organising team is looking forward to a lively participation and an inspiring discussion.
