"35 years on: Does the Wall remain in people's minds?" Series of events to mark the anniversary of the Peaceful Revolution
November 2024 marks the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. But we are still talking about East and West Germany, about the failure of the East to converge with the West - in economic and political terms as well as in terms of mentality and identity. We ask: Are East and West Germany still valid categories at all and, if so, what do they look like? How desirable is a harmonization?
What expectations have been fulfilled and disappointed since then?
To mark this anniversary, there will be a panel discussion on November 12, 2024 and a poetry slam on November 26, 2024. Registration is requested for both events. Information can be found in the respective event details. Both events will take place in the Klemperer Hall of the SLUB.
The Directorate University Culture has organized this series of events in cooperation with the SLUB and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.
The series takes place as part of the"Science Year 2024 - Freedom" and is part of the project Democratic Freedom - Achieve, Experience, Preserve.
