Universities take a stand campaign
TU Dresden participates in the nationwide campaign"Universities take a stand"
Freedom of research and teaching is a fundamental element of a democratic society. Universities stand for open exchange, scientific curiosity and critical thinking. These values are increasingly coming under pressure: political interference in academic content, restrictions on gender-equitable language, cuts in funding and the defamation and repression of committed students and researchers are endangering an open university culture.
The "Universities take a stand" campaign draws attention to these developments and sends a visible signal for basic democratic values, diversity and academic freedom. The campaign was also disseminated via social media in order to raise public awareness of the current threats to a democratic and supportive university culture.
The campaign was initiated by the Network for Anti-Discrimination at Universities, the Network for Diversity at Universities and the Federal Conference of Women's and Equal Opportunities Officers at Universities (bukof), among others.
