Sound & Science: Time to get in touch

Tiffany Poon
This season, »Sound & Science«, the successful cooperation between the Dresdner Musikfestspiele and TU Dresden, takes us into the fascinating world of contemporary real-time technologies under the title "Time to Get in Touch". In the first part, scientists from various disciplines will provide insights into this exciting field and address questions such as how real-time technology can complement our world of experience and whether the linking of music and technology creates new possibilities for establishing emotional connections and bridging spatial distances musically and emotionally.
Of course, the second half of the evening will then see the ideas and theories put forward being tested live in a "remote" concert using technology developed especially for this evening in collaboration with YAMAHA. Music will be played separately at two locations: The innovative cellist Jan Vogler will play with the "ghost piano" remote-controlled in real time by the pianist Tiffany Poon, in which the keys of the grand piano move by themselves and the grand piano in Dresden is played as if by a ghostly hand - an extraordinary concert experiment that invites you to a new perception of music!
