University and Society
TU Dresden considers itself as a civil actor, which raises awareness and motivates its students and employees for the social responsibility of the university in different projects of social engagement. As the largest employer and largest educational institution in Dresden, TU Dresden bears a social responsibility for urban society and in the state of Saxony. It fulfills this responsibility through its commitment to diversity, to an open, respectful approach to one another without reservations, and to solidarity, guided by the basic values of humanity. Diversity and democracy thrive on exchanges across social groups and we strive to improve our understanding of how social cohesion works.
We aim to further increase TUD's impact and visibility in society, politics and business and, as a social actor, to contribute to public discourse and to improve the living environment of the region's inhabitants. At the same time, this is linked to the didactic mission to convey to our students the importance of their own social responsibility for social cohesion in diversity and democracy.
University Forum
University forums on various topics are held at irregular intervals, where all TUD members are invited to share and discuss perspectives.
Culture of interpersonal interaction
The Unit is also responsible for the university's interpersonal projects. One particular question in this area is: How should we convey recognition - e.g. on anniversaries, farewells, for special merits and to certain professional groups? Several working groups are currently working on this.
