What can science and civil engineers contribute to solving these problems? Bridge expert Steffen Marx is a professor at the Institute for Solid Construction at the TU Dresden and has been commissioned by the city of Dresden to investigate the cause of the partial collapse of the Carola Bridge, as well as being responsible for the load tests to check the load-bearing capacity of the Elbe bridge in Bad Schandau.
