Was ist los mit unseren Brücken? Der Einsturz der Carolabrücke - die Ursachen und die Folgen - Vortrag mit Prof. Steffen Marx

Vortrag zur LNdWDD
The collapse of the Carola Bridge on 11 September 2024 not only meant that one of the most important transport axes for the city of Dresden literally collapsed, it also changed the public perception of our transport infrastructure. Are our bridges really all dilapidated? Was the collapse of the Carola Bridge just the beginning of a series of problems that we will face with our bridge structures in the coming years? What can science and civil engineers contribute to solving these problems? Bridge expert Steffen Marx is a professor at the Institute for Solid Construction at the TU Dresden and has been commissioned by the city of Dresden to investigate the cause of the partial collapse of the Carola Bridge, as well as being responsible for the load tests to check the load-bearing capacity of the Elbe bridge in Bad Schandau. In an approximately one-hour lecture, he will provide insights into the results of the investigation into the bridge collapse and the solutions that the scientists at our university are working on.
