The following pages present the letter inheritance of Professor Cornelius Gurlitt (1850-1938). Gurlitt was Rector of Technische Hochschule Dresden, the present TU Dresden, and President of the Association of German Architects (Bund Deutscher Architekten - BDA). He worked interdisciplinary in the fields of architecture, art history, historic preservation and urban design. His works concentrate on the German-speaking area, and beyond into Eastern, Southern and Western Europe. Please register to access the presentation. Founded in 1828 as a technical educational institution, TU Dresden is the largest university in Saxony. After 1990, it was expanded into a full university with a broad spectrum of disciplines, including a renowned field of medicine. As a central institution, the University Archive fulfills service tasks of evaluation, custody, indexing and preservation of the archive material created at the university, including the archive material of institutions whose legal successor is the Dresden University of Technology. As a publicly accessible archive, it supports research, teaching, studies and administration.

On 22 April 2024, President of the State Parliament Dr. Matthias Rößler visited the university archive and embarked on a very personal biographical journey. As a graduate of TU Dresden, doctoral student and later research assistant at the Dresden Friedrich List University of Transport, he inspected his own student and doctoral files.
