Data Stewardship goes Germany - Workshop 2024: Connecting Data Stewards
The Research Data Management (RDM) Working Group of the TU9, an alliance of leading technical universities in Germany, is continuing its tradition of organizing the two-day workshop "Data Stewardship goes Germany". After successful events in Braunschweig in 2022 and last year at the Open Science Lab of the SLUB Dresden (Data Stewardship goes Germany 2023), this year, the workshop will be held at RWTH Aachen University from September 11 to 12, 2024 (Data Stewardship goes Germany 2024).
The workshop is aimed at people involved in the management of research data, including data stewards, research data (handling) officers, data experts, data curators, data managers, or consultants in research data management. This year's workshop will have a special focus on the participants themselves and the development of networks in the field of data stewardship. As the importance of sustainable research data management continues to grow, many institutions and projects are increasingly relying on data stewards for support. They focus on establishing sustainable workflows and structures as well as raising general awareness for the importance of effective research data management.
This workshop provides a forum for data stewards to share ideas and best practices. In addition, the event offers participants the opportunity to present and discuss case studies, challenges, innovative strategies and solutions. The format will include presentations, a poster session and intensive small group work. The official language is English and the event is free of charge.
Presentations and posters can be submitted starting now until June 10, 2024. Topics include networking and communication of data stewards, role and tasks, concepts for integrating data stewardship, skills training and solutions for publishing research data. Similar to the previous workshop "Data Stewardship goes Germany 2023" (Conference Proceedings), the publication of a conference volume of the contributions is planned.
