Central Data Gateway (DGW)

The data gateway "dgw.zih.tu-dresden.de" is a central file server that provides all home directories and group drives for organizing data. Access is done with the SSH methods "sshfs", "sftp" or "scp".

One can connect to the data gateway using suitable file explorers and copy or move data between the local system and the directories on the data gateway as desired using 2-window technology.

Data can also be moved directly between directories on the DGW without first copying it across your own system. To do this, a command line with the appropriate syntax must be passed. This can be done on a login server or with the help of a suitable SFTP program.

When copying or moving data with a file explorer, it must be ensured that the access rights to the file are retained. For this purpose, a check mark must be set in the confirmation window.

The different drives can be found on the data gateway according to the following pattern:

• Home directories
  • /home/<loginname>/
• Group drives
  • /glw/<glwname>/
• Archive
  • /archive/<loginname>/
  • /archive/<projectname>/
  • /archive/<glwname>/

HRSK directories are no longer available on the data gateway until further notice.
