Bio-Inspired SOlutions for complex communication Networks
In this project we exploit biological ideas and techniques from the theory of complex systems for constructing robust, self-organizing and self-repairing information systems in highly dynamic networks (e.g. peer-to-peer). An important model class are cellular automata. The focus is on complex problems in networks as GNUTELLA or internet. The project is interdisciplinary with partners from computer science, mathematics, physics and biology. So far, we have concentrated on search and load balancing algorithms which are motivated from ideas taken from the immune system and biological development.
