HEP-Community-Grid
Applications and Components for Data Analysis in High Energy Physics in A National e-Science Environment (HEP Community Grid - HEP CG)
The main focus of the HEP-Community-Grid is the improvment of data analysis by the efficient use of distributed and networked data storage and computing resources. An enhanced efficiency is a requirement for the data analysis of current and future heigh energy physics experiments, like the "Large Hadron Collider" an CERN or the planned international linear collieder ILC.
The joint project of 8 institutes and universities is coordinated by DESY and will be funded by the German Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) (Federal ministry of education and research) with 2.3 Million Euro over a period of 3 years.
ZIH and the Institut for Nuclear and Particle Physics (IKTP) of the TU Dresden are in charge of the development of a system for user centric job monitoring and the monitoring of the usage of the hardware resources in a Grid. We will implement methods and tools to efficiently monitor the enormous amounts of jobs (order of hundreds to thousands) of the single users and their resource usage.
