Standard Performance Evaluation Cooperation (SPEC)
The ZIH has been a member of the Standard Performance Evaluation Cooperation (SPEC) in the Open System Group (OSG) and High Performance Group (HPG) since 2005. Since then, ZIH has been actively involved in the development of benchmarks in the field of high-performance computing. For the hardware accelerator benchmark SPEC ACCEL (2014), the ZIH provided the reference system whose execution times are used for the benchmark as a basis for evaluating other results. In addition, the ZIH is committed to regularly collecting and submitting current SPEC results for new CPU and accelerator types. Between 2016 and 2017 a new SPEC ACCEL benchmark suite was developed, which supports OpenMP 4 target directives for accelerators.
Availability of benchmarks
Through its participation in SPEC, TU Dresden has access to the SPEC benchmarks of the above-mentioned groups. These include SPEC CPU, SPEC SFS, SPEC cloud, SPEC OMP, SPEC MPI, SPEC ACCEL. Their non-commercial, academic use is free of charge for members of the TU Dresden. Please contact Holger Brunst if you want to use SPEC benchmarks or need further information.
