Day 3 - Software Development Processes with MATLAB and Simulink
on Friday, 29/05/2026, 9:00 am - 12:00 am, CET
Speaker: Dr.-Ing. Stefan Kerber, MathWorks
Professional software development relies on well-established practices that promote collaboration, maintainability, and clarity. These principles are equally valuable in graphical programming environments, though their implementation may differ.
In this workshop, begin with a simple signal processing example implemented in MATLAB®, following best practices in software development; then re-implement the example in Simulink®, applying techniques tailored to graphical modeling. Along the way, explore collaborative workflows using Git and GitHub and see how Simulink Test™ can be used to safeguard the algorithm.
This workshop is designed for researchers and students interested in applying software development best practices, such as testing, to their MATLAB scripts and Simulink models using modern development tools.
Speaker Bio
Dr.-Ing. Stefan Kerber is a senior customer success engineer in the Academia group at MathWorks Germany. He partners with universities in northeastern Germany to accelerate discovery and learning, particularly in the field of Model-Based Design. Prior to joining MathWorks, he held several academic positions and completed an industry assignment where he collaborated closely with software engineers to bring active noise cancellation systems for passenger cars into mass production. Stefan holds a doctoral degree in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Munich.
